Friends, meet Gary. If you’re not already following him here on Tumblr, I recommend it. Why? Well, take the link at the bottom and go listen to his new album. I’m doing that as I type. Really incredible music. Gary and I were roommates in college, and he’s always been a musician I look up to for his unforgiving pursuit to make really, really good music.
I’ve been pushing my own music a lot on here, and I’m very relieved to be able to tell you about somebody else’s music, and excited that it’s Gary’s. He’ll let you download it for free, but give it a listen first and I think you’ll agree that it warrants some of your hard-earned dollar bills.
I’m happy to announce that my new album entitled “Trust” is finished. It has yet to be physically duplicated, but it’s available digitally right now, and (as the title mentioned) you can download it, in its entirety, for free.
“Why are you giving it away? Does that mean the album doesn’t hold any value with you?”
“Trust” holds an unbelievable amount of value for me, and that’s part of the reason why I’m giving it away. I didn’t make this album as a means to make money — I made it because I was driven to… because I felt that it was what I was supposed to do. I didn’t ask the songs to come out — they came out on their own in an incredibly fluid experience that will remain one of the most memorable of my entire life. And I want to share all of that with you, and with anyone and everyone who wants to hear it, without having to be burdened with the distraction of money. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep the download free (I’ll be selling physical copies once they are duplicated, and it’ll be on iTunes eventually as well), but I’m hoping I can afford to do it for a long time. I’d say it’s “free for a limited time only,” but I’d rather be more up-front and say that I’d love to give it away forever, but I also have to eat.
“Is there a catch? Free stuff scares me.”
There’s no catch. It’s not a pyramid scheme. I don’t want your first-born, or even a hi-five. Your willingness to listen, and time spent doing so, is good enough for me. If you enjoy what you hear and feel inclined to tell others about me and what I do, that’s wonderful and I certainly won’t stop you. But that’s kinda how music works, doesn’t it? If the music is good, it will find listeners, and maybe you will be a part of that. I don’t want to throw any pre-requisites into how beautifully that system works.
“Okay then, count me in. Where do I go to get it?”
Sweet! You can find the download here (no worries, Bandcamp downloads fly seamlessly into iTunes). The download also includes a digital booklet, containing lyrics and album credits (lots of wonderfully talented people were involved in the creation of “Trust”).
I appreciate you taking the time to read this as well as check out the new album (if you so choose). For those of you who live in Los Angeles, details for an official CD release show will be coming soon. If you are not already on my email list and wish to be added, click here.
Thanks for reading, and listening!
