The Raconteurs — “Old Enough” (Feat. Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe)
*Thanks to Bob Lefsetz for tweeting this video.
First I thought, “I’ll check this out. Oh, over 6 minutes? I’ll just watch the beginning,” but it’s hard to turn your ears and eyes off something this good. You’ll see what I mean.
Here’s a little ditty I wrote a while back for a recording, using LZ’s Tinycaster (electric uke). I had a chance to play it live last Saturday when Lauren needed some time to get her guitar in an alternate tuning. It’s not perfect, but it was dark?

If you ever go over to her and Brad’s apartment, you’ll be drenched in a creative aura. There’s always some painting or drawing in the works and music being written or practiced.

Tony Rice plays “Blackberry Blossom”
I’ve been studying a number of different versions of this song, realizing there’s as many ways to play it as there are flatpickers. But you can’t beat the impeccable Tony Rice. I can do this on the guitar, but I’m trying to get my mandolin chops up to speed.
“Atlantic City”
Bruce Springsteen cover
Here’s another Boss cover from a rooftop jam session in Brooklyn.
“I’m On Fire”
Bruce Springsteen cover
Felt like posting a couple Boss covers. Here’s one with Lauren Zettler.
I was waiting for Lauren to post this so I could be lazy and just reblog it from her, but she’s the one being lazy and would rather play shows on the other side of the country than waste time blogging, I guess.
The video is from last week’s Rockwood show. Lauren and I are joined by Craig Akin on bass and Elliot Jacobson on drums.
The first half is a new LZ original titled “Love.” The last half is the Beatles’ “Something” from Abbey Road. It was the end to a really fun set of music on the new stage at Rockwood Music Hall, as we opened the night for Jenny Owen Youngs.
Enjoy.
Cam and I made another uke/mando cover videoooooo
Plush, STP, what do these lyrics MEAN
I think it’s about an abduction/murder. I didn’t want to tell you that before we recorded it.
